    Experiences

    There is a meditation hall and a place for sutra copying (Hibutsu-dō) on the grounds. With a simple registration a basic experience of zazen or sutra copying is possible for anyone.

    Teahouse

    You can enjoy matcha (green tea) in a teahouse built in the style of the Omotesenke tea school. This teahouse can also be used for tea ceremony gatherings and so on.

    Gokan-dō (Shinshō-ji udon)

    You can eat udon in the same way as the unsui (training monks) do at a training hall of the Rinzai sect.

    Gankū-in (Café)

    Take a break from viewing the temple grounds and take your time looking at the peaceful garden while enjoying green tea.

    Bathhouse

    The bathhouse is one of the seven regular buildings of a traditional Zen temple. Take a bath to rejuvenate yourself after viewing the temple grounds.

    Fukuyama station, bus terminal, bus stop #6, enter a bus heading for 「Chitosebashi」,「Abuto」,「Tsuneishi」or「Utsuminyōkyō」and get off at 「Tenjinyama」. From there it is 15 minutes to walk.(We can pick you up at the 「Tenjinyama」bus stop. Please call us.)
